Hon’ble Prime Minister Inaugurates and lays the foundation of GNFC’s Projects Worth Rs. 600 Crores
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched GNFC’s various projects worth Rs. 600 crore at Bharuch on 8th October 2017. Fulfilling the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Neem coating of Urea, GNFC’s Neem project, with an investment of Rs. 50 Crores, has resulted in additional income generation to around 4 lakhs women and rural poor in Gujarat to the tune of Rs. 40 crore. Thousands of Self Help Groups, Village Co-operative Societies and NGOs have been roped in to create a very vast, integrated network of Neem seeds collection. During the last three years, over 45,000 MT of Neem seeds have been collected not only from Gujarat but also from other states like Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.Thousands of women in tribal areas of Gujarat have used this additional income to purchase sustainable assets like milch cattle, vegetable shops etc. for further income generation.
Hon’ble Prime Minister also dedicated various forward integration plants of Neem project like Neem Soap, Neem Shampoo, Neem Hand-wash, Neem based Organic Pesticides etc. and extraction plant for production of large quantity of Neem oil. All of these plants are being run largely by women generating further employment to them.
GNFC’s various Neem products are available in more than 3000 retail outlets in India including Big Bazaar, Star Bazaar, Kendriya Bhandar and also on Flipkart.
Hon’ble Prime Minister also laid foundation of Rs. 550 Crores Di-Calcium Phosphate (DCP) plant, a downstream project of GNFC, being established with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from EcoPhos Belgium, Europe’s largest DCP producer. This plant would be of 2 Lakh MT per annum and would be greatly useful to Cattle feed, Poultry feed, Fish feed industry and also for export to other countries. This plant will generate directly and indirectly one thousand jobs in Gujarat.
Hon’ble Prime Minister while launching GNFC’s projects worth Rs. 600 Crores congratulated the management of GNFC for having taken the lead in the country in production of Neem coated Urea by a massive backward integration project of Neem seeds collection and Neem oil production through lakhs of women and generating additional income to them. He also remarked that the forward integration products of GNFC like Neem Soap, Neem Shampoo, etc. were unique and will make a great mark in the market.
Hon’ble Prime Minister also emphasized that the Di-Calcium Phosphate (DCP) project of GNFC will go a long way in fulfilling the needs of cattle feed industry in the country and thereby it would benefit immensely the milch animal owners in rural areas.
Hon’ble Prime Minister said that the Neem coating of Urea has not only prevented the diversion of Urea but also made more Urea available to the lakhs of farmers in the country.
